Candle dyes through the ages

Since ancient times, candles have been an essential source of light, but their value is not limited to mere illumination, but is also tied to artistic and cultural expression.

The first candles were primitive and were made with natural waxes such as beeswax. or animal fat. These candles were white or pale yellow in color due to the nature of the materials used.

Over time, pigments extracted from plants, minerals and other sources were used to add hues to candles. In this way, candles became an artistic and decorative expression, in addition to fulfilling their practical function.

Candle dyes today

In the modern era, candle manufacturing was transformed with the introduction of dyes in innovative forms such as microspheres, flakes and pellets. These dye formats offer remarkable advantages in terms of strength and ease of use.

The colored microspheres are tiny solid particles that mix homogeneously with the melted wax. Their uniformity and dispersibility ensure consistent coloration throughout the candle. 

In addition, these microspheres are highly heat resistant, which means that the color of the candle remains vibrant even when the candle is lit.

The colored flakes and pellets also permit precise dispensing and hassle-free mixing in whatever raw materials are used: paraffin, soy wax, stearic acid (vegetable stearin) or transparent gelatin, among others.
