Methods of Obtaining

They are obtained through mining and the extraction of mineral deposits on the Earth’s surface. This process varies according to the type of soil and its geological location:

Open-pit mining. In many cases, natural soils are extracted through open-pit mining, where the surface layer is removed to access the underlying deposits.

Underground mining. For some types of soils, such as certain types of kaolinite, underground mining is used, which involves digging tunnels or shafts.

Processing. After extraction, the soils are processed to remove impurities and adjust their properties to meet the specific requirements of each application. This process may include drying, grinding, and classification.

Uses of Natural Soils

Cosmetics. In the cosmetic field, natural soils are valued for their purifying, smoothing, and regenerating properties. They are used in products such as face masks, exfoliants, and powders, which provide specific benefits depending on the type of soil.

Construction and pottery. Clays have historically been used in the manufacture of bricks, ceramics, and other construction materials. Their ability to be molded and hardened makes them ideal for these applications.

Agriculture. Some natural soils, such as kaolin, are used in agriculture to improve soil quality and protect plants against adverse environmental factors.

Industry. Soils also have applications in the paper, paint, and chemical manufacturing industries, where they are used as fillers, coatings, and additives.

How to Choose Quality Natural Soils?

When purchasing natural soils, it is important to consider some factors to ensure quality:

Purity and composition. Check that the soil is free of impurities and contaminants. The purity of the mineral directly affects the effectiveness of the final product.

Origin and processing. Find out the origin of the soil and the extraction and processing methods. Soils from reliable sources and with responsible extraction processes usually have better quality.

Testing and trials. If possible, request samples of the product. With them, you can conduct tests or request laboratory reports confirming their properties and quality.

Additionally, it is essential to understand the specific properties that each type of soil contributes to its particular application. In the cosmetic industry, for example, texture, color, and absorption capacity are key factors. On the other hand, in construction and pottery, plasticity and drying ability are crucial.

At Ceras Martí, we offer brown clay, green clay, and kaolin of the highest purity, sourced from selected deposits. Contact us for more information or request a free sample to verify its quality.
