Natural waxes are solid compounds that are resistant to moisture, oxidation and microbiological decomposition and are extremely useful in the manufacture of various products. Waxes are used, for example, in the manufacture of candles, and in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, agricultural and food industries, among others.

According to their origin, natural waxes are classified into two main groups: vegetable waxes, which are extracted directly from nature; and animal waxes, which are produced naturally and processed industrially, respecting their origin as much as possible.

Where do natural waxes come from?

Natural waxes are derived from plants and animals. In the animal kingdom, there are species that secrete waxes through their glands; while in the plant kingdom, there are plants that produce small amounts of wax to protect their leaves or seeds from the action of wind, water and other forces of nature. Examples of these types of waxes include beeswax, carnauba and candelilla.

Due to their different origins, the processing of natural waxes is also diverse. Some waxes remain practically unchanged from the moment of extraction until they are marketed, while others are minimally processed or combined with different materials to achieve certain functional characteristics.

How are natural waxes different from synthetic waxes?

The main difference between natural and synthetic waxes, such as paraffin, for example, is their origin, as well as their chemical composition and components, which can vary in quantity and number according to the source of origin of the wax. Vegetable and animal origins are popular in sectors such as cosmetics, food, and candle-making, as they provide us with all the properties but require minimal industrial processing.

Why choose natural waxes?

Natural waxes are especially popular in production sectors where consumers are inclined to reject petroleum-based products, such as cosmetics or candle-making. This is why, when buying natural waxes, it is important to trust their purity. Our waxes are of the highest quality and can be used to improve the formula of many products while respecting their natural origin.

Moreover, the general trend towards sustainable development means that more and more biodegradable, compostable and recyclable products are in demand (e.g. in the packaging industry). In this context, natural waxes are very useful for the development of products aimed at minimizing the carbon footprint, using materials from renewable sources and protecting the environment.
