Beeswax is one of the world’s best known, widely used and most appreciated natural waxes. Bees produce it to protect their hives from external agents that can contaminate it, and humans have used it in countless applications.

What is beeswax and how is it produced?

Bees produce wax through glands located in their abdomen called wax glands. Young honey bees produce wax only between 10 and 18 days of age. They use it to build and expand their hives.

Beeswax consists of around 300 organic substances and is produced in the form of flakes, which the bees then shape according to their needs. The color of the wax ranges from deep yellow through gold to brown. The coloration depends on the bees’ diet.

Beeswax uses and properties

Beeswax is used according to its properties, of which there are many. Among other things, it is waterproof, antibiotic, healing, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, emollient, softening and emulsifying.

For all these reasons, it has been traditionally used in the manufacture of candles, wood protectors, shoe polish, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

Types of beeswax

Among our products, you’ll find different beeswax formats, adapted to meet each customer’s needs. We sell maximum purity beeswax, perfect for cosmetic use; and we also offer beeswax combined with a low percentage of paraffin, which permits obtaining more competitive products without sacrificing quality.

What’s more, the possibility of choosing between block or pellet formats, ensures maximum performance and facilitates production processes, where necessary.
