Carnauba wax is a natural wax obtained from a palm that grows only in the northeastern region of Brazil. Thanks to its many properties and its wide range of applications, it is also known as the “Queen of Waxes”.

How is carnauba wax obtained?

The Brazilian region of Ceará, where the Copernicia prunifera palm is endemic, regularly experiences periods of severe drought. To cope with these crises, which can last up to six months, the palm covers its leaves with a thick layer of wax, which is composed of esters, alcohols and fatty acids to prevent evaporation.

There are different ways to extract carnauba wax from the plant. One involves cutting the leaves, drying and crushing them, while another implies scraping and boiling them.

Properties and uses of carnauba wax

As well as being highly resilient and waterproof, carnauba wax is antioxidant, hypoallergenic and has a unique, special shine.

It combines very well with beeswax and other types of wax, enhancing their properties and its own.

Carnauba wax has a very long list of applications, but its main uses include: giving consistency and shine to cosmetic products, use in shoe creams, in the food industry, car waxes, pharmaceuticals and for coating paper.

Our carnauba waxes

Among our products we offer two types of carnauba wax of the highest quality and suitable for all kinds of use. Their main difference lies in their color: Carnauba Wax T1 is more yellow in color, and T-3 is more orange.

Both can be purchased in flakes or powder, to facilitate melting, a very important factor to take into account in the case of carnauba wax, due to its notable hardness.
