Paraffin is a wax or mineral oil derived mainly from hydrocarbons (petroleum) and minerals like coal. Due to its properties, it has countless applications in the manufacture of all kinds of products. It is a solid material at room temperature, solid, shiny, impermeable and non-toxic, so its use extends even to the food and pharmaceutical industries. In addition, it is biodegradable and its combustion does not release harmful or corrosive vapors. This makes it an ideal material for candle manufacturing, an industry of which it has long been a leader.

Paraffin is also used in cosmetics, construction, coatings, textiles, electricity, and more.

Refined and semi-refined paraffins

Depending on the refining (oil removal) process to which they are subjected, paraffins are divided into different types, with diverse properties.

Refined paraffins are known for their high purity, excellent gloss and odorlessness. They are highly resistant to oxidation and have a very low oil content: they are the hardest paraffins.

Semi-refined paraffins, on the other hand, have a higher oil content, and lower hardness. They have a characteristic odor and their color can range from crystalline to opaque white. They are considered a good substitute for refined kerosene waxes, which are more expensive and purer.

Finally, there are also microcrystalline paraffins, which are characterized by the addition of chemical compounds that give them flexibility and adhesion to various surfaces. Depending on their components, they can be soft and flexible or hard and brittle.

Derivatives

In addition to paraffin, we offer other products that are derivatives or that can be used as additives to enhance its performance. For example, we offer a wide variety of candle dyes with high coloring power and in different formats: flakes, pellets and microspheres. We also sell candle additives, which provide benefits such as greater durability and flexibility.

Light medicinal oil, transparent gelatin (for the manufacture of candles in glass containers) and white medicinal petroleum jelly are among the products we offer.
