The history of candle dyes
Candles, used for centuries as a source of light, were adorned with colors throughout history. The first dyes were obtained from natural sources, such as plants and minerals. These ingredients were crushed and mixed to create colors.
In ancient Rome, for example, candle dyes were made from substances such as beeswax mixed with natural pigments.
Today, candle dyes have evolved tremendously. Advances in chemistry and technology have led to modern forms that are resistant, durable and easy to use: microspheres, flakes and pellets.
Our dyes are easy to measure out and can be mixed with many types of raw materials, such as paraffin, soy wax, stearic acid (vegetable stearin) or transparent gelatin,
Modern dyes are also fade and discoloration resistant, which ensures that the candles retain their original color for a long time.
Chromotherapy, or color therapy, is a practice based on the notion that colors can impact our emotional wellbeing.
The color pink is associated with feelings of love, compassion and tranquility. It is used in chromotherapy to promote relaxation and relieve stress. It is believed that pink can help calm emotions and encourage empathy for others.
