Description

How to choose the right paraffin wax

Thanks to their great versatility, paraffins are used in many different production areas. Choosing the right paraffin wax is essential to obtain the best results in the final product.

Below are the most common uses and applications of refined paraffin wax 56-58 °C, which has medium melting point and is semi-opaque appearance in solid state, fully refined and deodorized, with low oil content and high hardness.

Industrial applications

Due to its high sealing and moisture protection properties, this paraffin is used in wood and rubber processing, in the paper and cardboard industries, and for the manufacture of lubricants, floor waxes, emulsions and shoe polishes, among others.

Candle making

Because it is translucent and elastic, it is ideal for making candles in opaque containers, such as cement or ceramic bowls. It is also suitable for making candles by extrusion or casting, although in these cases it is advisable to add a hardness additive, such as our VYBAR 260, which also guarantees an opaque and stain-free finish.

As it melts fast, it is an easy was to work with, although the durability of candles made with it is lower than that of paraffin waxes with a higher melting point, such as refined paraffin 64-66 °C.

To add color to candles made with refined paraffin 56-58 °C it is possible to add paraffin soluble dyes We have an extensive catalog with more than ten colors in different formats: flakes, pellets and microspheres.
