Brightness and Hardness with
Vegetable Waxes
In the world of vegetable waxes, carnauba wax and candelilla wax stand out for their resistance, shine, and hardness. Both come from renewable sources and bring unique characteristics to the products in which they are used.
It is obtained from the leaves of the carnauba palm, a tree native to Brazil. This wax is highly valued for its hardness and shine. In fact, it is one of the most durable and heat-resistant vegetable waxes. Its texture is harder compared to other vegetable waxes —such as those from soy, coconut, or rapeseed—, making it an excellent choice for applications requiring a firmer and more stable finish.
Carnauba wax is ideal for use in cosmetics, coatings, and in the footwear and automotive industries, where its ability to provide a shiny and durable finish is highly appreciated. It is also used in combination with other waxes to improve the texture and stability of formulations.
Candelilla wax, on the other hand, comes from the candelilla plant, native to Mexico. This wax is known for its ability to form a protective film and its high resistance to heat. Its texture is somewhat softer than that of carnauba, making it ideal for applications where greater flexibility is required; for example, in cosmetics and household products.
Candelilla wax stands out for its ability to provide excellent adhesion and cohesion in formulations. It is commonly used in the manufacturing of lipsticks, balms, and other cosmetic products, where its emollient properties and its ability to provide a smooth and long-lasting finish are valued.
