Food / Technical

Paraffin-coating paper is a highly valued technique in the food industry, as it allows food to be separated and preserved under optimal conditions. Adding a paraffin wax layer to paper increases its impermeability and resistance to moisture and grease without compromising its flexibility.

Waxed paper in the food industry

Paraffin-waxed paper is used at all stages of food processing: in preparation, preservation, and distribution. In addition to its non-stick properties, this material protects against bacteria and mold that can contaminate foodstuffs.

Properties of waxed paper

Its main characteristic is that it presents no risk to human health. To ensure this, paper or cardboard must be waxed with a paraffin of the highest quality, one suitable for contact with foodstuffs.

Other core properties of paraffin waxed paper include:

  • Non-stick
  • Impermeability
  • Flexibility
  • Resistance to moisture and grease
  • Thanks to these characteristics, paraffin paper is indispensable when handling and selling food.

Sustainable material

Both paper and paraffin are biodegradable and recyclable materials, so using paraffin paper to protect food is a way of protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development.

Paraffin for waxing paper

During the paper-making process, the paraffin is spread on both sides, using a roller or spray.

To achieve best results, it is advisable to use a paraffin with a laminated, glossy finish, which increases the paper’s resistance and impermeability and gives it an attractive appearance, without sacrificing flexibility.

Our Paraffin B-20 is suitable for coating paper or cardboard by roller or spray, with a melting point of 62-75 °C and exceptional quality.
